Waters Corporation hires B&M to deliver waste management programme

Categories: B&M News

watersLeading North West waste management firm B&M Waste Services has signed a deal with a global research and development company.

B&M has been appointed by Waters Corporation to provide it with a range of services covering general waste, paper and card recycling, wood, cardboard and glass at its worldwide headquarters for Mass Spectrometry. B&M’s shredding division will be responsible for providing a shredding service to the US-owned corporation.

The Wilmslow site, where more than 500 people are employed, is a research and development facility for the design and manufacture of mass spectrometers. The spectrometers are used by Waters’ customers to support discoveries, operations, performance and regulatory compliance.

The Waters contract win is the latest success for B&M Waste Services following the opening of a dedicated Manchester base at Trafford Park earlier this year. The Trafford Park base includes a £1million Alternative Energy Facility that ensures any non-recyclable wastes are processed for use as a fuel in combined heat and power schemes.

Earlier this month, B&M secured the contract to provide the Lowry Outlet in Salford Quays with a range of waste management services.

Alastair Mason, European Health, Safety and Environment Manager for Waters, said: “We are looking forward to building a partnership with B&M Waste Services to ensure that we are managing our waste efficiently and ensuring high levels of recycling.”

Wendy Mitchell, Senior Accounts Manager for B&M Waste Services, said: “B&M is delighted to be working with the Waters Corporation. The organisation is a leader in its field and we have responsibility for ensuring that Waters’ waste management strategy is similarly industry leading.

“Waters’ headquarters in Wilmslow is extremely impressive covering almost 40 acres and employing more than 500 people. Our team is excited at the potential to deliver a sustainable waste management programme that brings outstanding carbon reduction and environmental impact results for Waters.”

B&M is one of the UK’s largest independent waste and recycling specialists employing more than 170 people across its sites in Trafford Park, Wirral and Norwich.

Waters employs approximately 5,000 people worldwide and operates in 27 countries. Its headquarters are in Milford, Massachusetts.
