Tate Liverpool achieve 98% diversion from landfill

The gallery attracts an average of 600,000 visits a year and hosts a diverse and lively special exhibitions and events programme while displaying work from the national collection free of charge. Tate Liverpool offer their visitors not only a dynamic range of art but also food and drink facilities plus souvenirs, with something for everyone Tate Liverpool is a key destination for any visitor.

Maintaining an environmentally friendly gallery is top priority for B&M Waste Services. B&M Waste offer recycling-led waste management solutions for businesses across the region, with headquarters in Bromborough, Wirral. Their ethos is to aim to achieve zero waste to landfill through utilising the latest innovation in technology to generate green energy from non-recyclable waste.

Since starting work with Tate Liverpool in 2013 B&M Waste Services have implemented a range of bins and segregation processes to assist Tate Liverpool achieve the highest recycling levels as possible.

Being Carbon Neutral since 2011, diversion from landfill is top priority given the damage this does to the environment. By introducing separate bins for general waste, paper and card and glass, to the Tate Liverpool site, as well as easy to understand stickers and posters informing users which bin is for which waste stream, more waste is being recycled than ever before.Paul Curtis standing by new Baler at Trafford Park

Paul Curtis, Director of B&M Waste Services, said “We know that an average of 600,000 people visit Tate Liverpool every year, with a high footfall comes a high level of waste. While Tate Liverpool is achieving landfill diversion levels of over 98%, we know that over the coming months we can continue our work together and further increase recycling while educating both staff and visitors as to the importance of segregation and recycling.”
