Shredding is a great way of preventing identity theft, protecting your data and minimising security risk to employees, your business and your customers. It’s essential for businesses to comply with the Data Protection Act (1998). We can help you confidentially dispose of data, potentially avoiding a fine of up to £500,000.
We find that shredding reassures your customers and increases their confidence in your business. It’s also a very effective way of enhancing your corporate social responsibility, as well as saving you time and resources.
Keeping a shredder in-house can incur heavy costs such as repairs, maintenance and updates. It’s also time consuming to correctly dispose of the waste afterwards. B&M Shredding can save you time, money and effort by destroying and disposing of company waste for you.

B&M Secure Shredding is a member of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and is accredited to ISO 9001 and BS 15713. Our shredders are designed to shred many types of materials including; paper, fabric and even plastic. Therefore we can shred for many of your company’s security requirements including confidential office documents, uniform shredding, and memory sticks.
Organisations produce many types of documents that can be seen as confidential information. According to the Information Commissioner’s Office: “The security measures that are appropriate for an organisation will depend on its circumstances, so you should adopt a risk based approach to deciding what level of security you need.” Businesses should ensure that they are adhering to the Data Protection Act and compliantly destroying anything that could be detrimental to the organisation if it were to fall into the wrong hands. For your organisation, confidential information that should be securely shredded could include;
Companies can use their own paper shredders, if they choose to, but this can represent a false economy. Removing ring binders, staples, paper clips and manually shredding confidential documents can take up valuable time. Outsourcing your shredding service to a well reputed secure shredding company can save your team time, meaning more resource for the job they have been employed to do, as well as giving you peace of mind that your documents are being destroyed compliantly. Regularly using a secure shredding company to destroy your confidential information could also be cheaper than you might think. You can call 0843 221 1022 to get more advice about outsourcing shredding from our customer service team.
B&M Secure Shredding can offer you a free secure shredding audit. We can then work with you to identify what the best shredding service will be for your organisation. In some cases we may suggest that you need a one-off or “purge” shred to clear out confidential information. For organisations producing a large amount of confidential information, we may advise a regular shredding service to ensure that you remain compliant with the Data Protection Act. This could be on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Our confidential information destruction process takes place in a secured, gated environment to ensure maximum security. Our operatives are SVS checked and BS7858 approved, they will transfer the confidential information in secure bags to our gated vehicle, where your documents will be securely shredded.
The Information Commissioner’s Office suggests carrying out an “information risk assessment”. B&M Secure Shredding would be happy to visit your organisation to carry out an information risk assessment for you, or you can download the document to the right and send it to email@example.com. Using this information, we can advise you on if your organisation will need scheduled or one-off shredding services.
We provide our customers with locked security consoles to safely store confidential information before it is shredded. Each console will have shaped apertures and an anti-tamper shelf, so that only the relevant materials can be received.
Our consoles are available in grey or beech to fit with most organisations’ colour schemes; they are also compact so that they do not take up too much office space. Along with our consoles, you will be provided with confidential waste bags. These will be kept inside the secure consoles and our operatives will put them in our gated vehicle to keep your information confidential while information is destroyed on-site.
No and you can leave in paper clips, staples and binder clips.
Please call our customer service team on 0843 221 1022 to arrange a collection as soon as you think that your secure console is full. If confidential documents are being stored outside of the secure consoles, they are no longer secure. We are more than happy to arrange an extra collection if necessary and if this happens on a regular basis, would look into increasing the frequency of your service.

Personal data and information includes paper and computer documents, CDs, disks and anything else that can be used to identify a living person. There’s a fine for not complying with the Data Protection Act - so it’s important to protect the reputation of your business.
