Food Waste Recycling Get A Quote

Our experience in waste management and recycling mean that we encourage segregation of waste, in particular food waste, as this is heavy and can be recycled as long as separated.

Food waste recyclingB&M Waste Services can recycle the food waste your business produces, ensuring legal compliance at every step, this waste includes:

  •    – Catering waste
  •    – Cattle animal feed
  •    – Composting
  •    – Dog food
  •    – Compacted food waste like bread and dough
  •    – Sugar or anything sugar based
  •    – Fish and meat which can go to produce further animal feed
  •    – Cheese for rendering
  •    – Out of date stock
  •    – Freezer breakdown waste

How is Food Waste Recycled?

Food waste is processed via Anaerobic Digestion to produce sustainable energy. This is a natural process where plant and animal materials (biomass) are broken down by micro-organisms in the absence of air. Naturally, occurring micro-organisms digest the biomass which releases a methane-rich gas that can be used to generate renewable heat and power. This helps cut fossil fuel use and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The remaining material is rich in nutrients so it can be used as a fertiliser. Many forms of biomass are suitable for AD; including food waste, slurry and manure, as well as crops and crop residues. However, woody biomass cannot be used in AD because the micro-organisms can’t breakdown the lignin, the compound that gives wood its strength.

We aim to achieve 100% recovery figures for your food waste while remaining compliant with current animal by-product legislation. Our flexible service means we are not limited to certain types of food waste; we will endeavour to find an end user for your specific food waste and always aim to achieve the best financial and environmental outcome possible for our customers.
