Legislation update

How do I change from my current waste provider?

We have a team of people who can process the cancellations with existing waste providers. The team will send a series of signed letters recorded delivery to your existing waste service provider on production of a recent contract from you. We can start the cancellation process in line with your existing terms and conditions to remove the hassle of changing. We will even hold the prices until your start date, so that you are still making a saving.

Will this cancellation be at a cost to my business?

B&M offers a full cancellation process that other waste suppliers do not. The cancellation procedure is free of charge and we will not put you in a position where you incur penalty costs. We understand the industry terms & conditions involved and have an administration team to follow through the full process and offer you support throughout. We’ve carried out many contracts that have had this process of termination with existing providers.

Can B&M save my organisation money?

B&M has over a decade of experience in the waste management industry. We will be able to offer you a cost for your waste service depending on your specific waste streams and needs. If you can provide our representative with a copy of a recent invoice from your current waste service provider, we’ll be able to establish where we can save you money. It is worth noting that Duty of Care (DOC), which is a legislative requirement, may be invoiced separately by your current waste management company, whereas B&M will include this in your monthly or annual invoice, for transparency.

Can I share a bin with the business next to me?

In accordance with Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, your business has a legal responsibility called a ‘Duty of Care’ to ensure that your waste is securely stored and disposed of legally. If you are sharing a bin, someone else will have to have signed to take responsibility for that waste container  and will be paying the invoice, so you will not be legally compliant. Without your own documentation, you will also be unable to prove that your waste is being collected by a reputable waste company to the Environment Agency (EA).

Do I need to sign a contract?

An agreement is required to protect “You” the customer and “We” B&M Waste Services. All Terms of Business are clearly set out on the back of our waste service agreements, which you will keep a copy of. Our waste service agreements ensure that you will have a consistency of waste service over that period and that your waste compliance will be taken care of. Please keep a copy of your agreement for your records.

Can I continue to take my waste home?

In accordance with Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, businesses have a legal responsibility called a ‘Duty of Care’ to ensure that their waste is securely stored and disposed of legally. The safest way to achieve this is by using a registered waste carrier. It is not legally compliant for organisations to take their waste home as their waste should be dealt with as commercial and industrial waste, not domestic waste.
