Lowry outlet partners with B&M to roll out waste management solutions

Categories: B&M News

waste management solutionsManchester’s Lowry Outlet has signed a contract with a leading waste management company.

B&M Waste Services will be responsible for waste management solutions, including the collection of the Salford Quays outlet’s general and food waste, cardboard, glass and dry mixed recycling. The company will also be providing staff at the outlet with waste management training.

The Lowry is the first Peel Holdings site to introduce the innovative Waste2 Food Waste Digester that takes food waste and processes it into grey water which is sent straight to the drain.

Chris Dunham, Facilities Manager at the Peel-owned Lowry Outlet, said: “We are looking forward to working with B&M Waste Services to reinforce our continuous efforts to improve waste management.

“We look forward to growing a partnership to increase our already high levels of recycling and manage our waste efficiently in such a way that it benefits our community and the surrounding environment.”

Earlier this year, B&M opened a base at Trafford Park which included a £1million investment in an Alternative Energy Facility that ensures any non-recyclable wastes are processed for use as a fuel in combined heat and power schemes.

B&M has a number of high profile clients in Greater Manchester and across the UK including retailers, schools, universities, hospitals, hotels, manufacturing sites, large corporates and SMEs.

The company is one of the UK’s largest independent waste and recycling specialists employing more than 170 people across its sites in Trafford Park, Wirral and Norwich.

Wendy Mitchell, of B&M Waste Services, said: “We are looking forward to partnering with the Lowry Outlet and putting in place an industry leading waste management programme.

“By working together, the outlet will achieve a number of key objectives including reducing and managing waste more efficiently and enhancing the recycling performance greatly.”
