Jelly Welly Walk challenge kicks off for Stick ‘n’ Step!

Categories: B&M News

Nursery children are pulling on their wellies for a Jelly Welly Walk to help fundraise for charity, have fun, get messy and get away with it!

Cerebral palsy charity Stick ‘n’ Step is asking nurseries to take part in the Jelly Welly Walk challenge to mark Cerebral Palsy Awareness month in March 2019. Children can fill their wellies with jelly or enjoy splashing in a bath or trough full of the squidgy stuff. Even babies will be able to get involved through messy play activity. Parents of all children taking part in the event are being invited to make a donation to the charity. All money raised will go towards supporting children with cerebral palsy.

Jelly Welly Walk sponsor B&M Waste will present the nursery which raises the most money with a £100 voucher to invest in recycling.

Marketing Manager at B&M Waste, Jayne Kennedy, said, “The Jelly Welly Walk from Stick ‘n’ Step is a fun (and jelly!)-filled day that B&M Waste is proud to be supporting. It’s a great way to involve children from the local community and, as a local, family-run business, it’s completely aligned with our values.”

Jenny Snell, head of fundraising at Stick ‘n’ Step, commented, “1 in 400 children born in the UK has cerebral palsy. The Jelly Welly Walk aims to build awareness of the condition and also the work we do at our two centres to help every child who comes to our classes achieve their own individual potential. It’s also going to be a lot of fun for all the nurseries and children who get involved!”

Any nurseries wanting to get involved or find out more about the Jelly Welly Walk, should contact Jenny on 0151 638 0888 or 01928 573777.

Stick ‘n’ Step offers support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families. The charity provides the children with totally free of charge conductive education sessions, allowing them to gain the skills they need to live independent lives.  94 children from across the region attend these sessions weekly or twice weekly at the charity’s Wallasey and Runcorn centres.
