Located in the North-West of England, Claire House is a charity close to our hearts here at B&M Waste Services. Claire House provide a home-from-home environment for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions. Offering respite, end-of-life care and support for the entire family, the positive outlook that Claire House takes is truly inspirational and their specialist nursing team provides one-to-one care for the individuals staying there, as well as providing a Hospice to Home scheme.
We always encourage our employees to visit Claire House to see how donations are used to improve the facilities used by the visiting young people and their families. Catering to young people up to 23 years of age, this includes an 18+ den, an arts and crafts room, living areas, hydrotherapy pool and a sensory room. It is clear to see that each donation is being used to create the best experience for each individual to feel comfortable whilst receiving specialist care tailored to their requirements.
Emma Vernon wins Claire House does Strictly!
In 2019, Emma Vernon dazzled the stage with her winning waltz, wowing both the judges and the crowd. Emma and her dancing partner, Callam Thomson, received the first 10 from the judges on the evening and received a great amount of praise for their performance, raising £1,855 for the charity in the process.
In what other ways have we helped Claire House?
We have a long history of charity commitment and raising money for Claire House as it was founded on the Wirral where the B&M Waste Services head office is also located.
The Wild Night Out, held in March 2020, was organised by the Wild family to commemorate the 18th Birthday of their son, Elliot Wild, who passed away in 2011 following a battle with leukaemia. B&M were proud to be sponsors of the event which raised over £30,000 for Claire House.
2020 will see the first B&M Waste golf day which will be raising funds for Claire House. Over 80 customers, staff, suppliers and Claire House representatives will come together to compete in this competition and continue our support of this fantastic charity.
We raised £20,000 for Claire House as a team of six from B&M Waste Services, including company directors, successfully scaled Mount Kilimanjaro.
Our team of Directors have taken part twice in the London to Paris Bike Ride which raised over £8000. See how they did it here
We have donated £5,000 to the Lloyd Brothers Mural Appeal. Dan, Sam and Tom Lloyd suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and attend The Mosslands School, Wallasey, and Claire House for respite. The Mosslands School invited the boys to design a 492 square foot mural, which has been painted by the whole school community. Read our news story on the Lloyd Brothers Mural Appeal here.
In addition to this, we regularly organise volunteering days away from the office where staff spend their working day at Claire House helping to make site improvements, particularly clearing out the gardens. Read about B&M volunteering at Claire House here.
Our offices regularly take part in cake sales, dress down days and other fundraising opportunities to continue to raise money and awareness of Claire House.
