*Calculate Your ShreddingNumber One is the first of three office buildings that has set the standard for this prestigious development that opened in 2017. Now home to Zenith Vehicle Hire, CEG, Bupa, Mercedes-Benz Vans UK Ltd and Butlers, this building has won 8 awards including the National BCO Award and The Property Wellbeing Award 2018 making it the healthiest office in the UK.
With the office home to 5 businesses and growing into a busy neighbourhood, Kirkstall Forge recognised that a sustainable waste management plan is imperative to their building plans.
Implementing a completely new waste strategy to the building, B&M Waste Services have spent time analysing the waste streams produced by tenants in the building, to ensure that the correct innovations are put into place.
Now segregating food, glass, card and general waste, No.1 Kirkstall forge are utilising all possible streams to ensure that they are recycling to their full potential. With future plans to implement a waste monitor, bin press and electric vehicles, the recycling future is looking bright for the No.1 Kirkstall Forge development.
Introducing a waste monitor is a fantastic way to monitor tenants waste. With clear and comparable data available to see the streams of waste being recycled from each office, No.1 will be able to offer incentives and waste reduction tips when and where necessary.
Still at the beginning of their partnership with B&M Waste, Kirkstall Forge are already ensuring that 100%of their waste is diverted from landfill. Due to food, card and glass waste being segregated, much more of the building’s waste will be recycled, with food being sent to anaerobic digestion.
When speaking on the partnership, Rebecca Johnson, Building Manager at CEG, said: “After a friendly and informative talk with all tenants from our account managers, Steph and Wendy, they felt so inspired that they have started a green sustainability group for the building! We are looking forward to the innovations being put into place in the near future, helping us to further monitor our waste and reduce where possible. Working with B&M Waste has been extremely positive so far and I am looking forward to working with them in the future!”
Steph McNally, National Account Manager at B&M, said: “The team at No.1 Kirkstall Forge are a pleasure to work with and have been so recycling-driven. I look forward to working with them further in the future, as they continue to grow their development.”
With all that is going on in the world at the moment, waste management continues to be an essential utility and we are doing all that we can to continue to operate as normal.
