Huyton Hey Manor are achieving over 85% in recycling levels with B&M trade waste services
Huyton Hey Manor is a privately owned care home which provides accommodation or older people. The residential home accommodates up to 27 adults and is based in the Huyton area of Knowsley.
Providing a clean and safe environment is vital in such an important facility, this is where B&M Waste Services comes in to help. Initially an internal audit takes place to assess the current process and amount of waste being produced and recycled, it was clear from the results that the majority of the waste Huyton Hey Manor produced was food related. In response B&M implemented a food waste bin as well as a general waste bin. Food waste is recycled via a process called Anaerobic Digestion, this produces sustainable energy, this in turn helps cut fossil fuel use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The general waste can also be recycled, instead of going to landfill it now goes to a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facility. B&M Waste Services RDF facility is based in Manchester, the waste is baled and sent to a combined heat and power plant which creates energy for the local area from the waste.
Huyton Hey Manor can follow the recycling process and see how much they have recycled on the bespoke environmental report that they receive.
Huyton Hey Manor are currently achieving 86.47% in their recycling levels, due to the implementation of new bins and the segregation of their waste streams.
