B&M Waste Services are working with Chill Factore, an indoor real snow slope based in Trafford, Manchester.
Chill Factore is home to the UK’s largest indoor skiing and snowboarding slope, providing fun family activities to lessons from fully qualified instructors.
Chill Factore attracts thousands of customers with its indoor ski slope and range of restaurants and shopping facilities, this then means there is a lot of trade waste to be segregated and recycled. Being a recycling-led carbon neutral company B&M Waste Services jumped at the opportunity to help Chill Factore segregate their commercial waste and increase their recycling levels. B&M Waste Services first completed an audit of the facility to identify what improvements could be made and then introduced several recycling bins to the facility. These include a dry mixed recycling for cardboard and plastic, a glass bin and a general waste bin.
Each recycling bin has a specific plant where the waste is recycled accordingly, this even includes the general waste. At B&M, a zero waste to landfill policy is in place, this means that any general waste that would usually go to landfill is instead diverted to an RDF facility. After processing at B&M’s RDF facility the waste is taken to a combined heat and power plant to create energy for the local areas, this now means all waste can be completely recycled. Chill Factore will be able to see exactly where their waste has gone and how much has been recycled on the B&M environmental reports that they receive each month.
Chill Factore have now achieved over 60% recycling levels through the segregation of their waste streams.
