Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in Leeds supports children and adults born with congenital heart defects across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. They are B&M Waste’s nominated charity for Leeds.
The charity was looking for a way in which to securely destroy their private and confidential waste as well as improve their green credentials.
As a Carbon Neutral waste services provider – and charity sponsor – B&M Waste was the obvious choice, whilst it was clear that B&M Secure Shredding – the data destruction arm of the business – could support the charity’s need for collecting and destroying their confidential waste.
As B&M Waste Services’ nominated charity for the last 2 years, Children’s Heart Surgery fund have not only introduced recycling of all paper and card items, by using Carbon Neutral B&M Waste Services, none of the remaining waste goes to landfill. Instead it is processed as Refuse Derived Fuel to generate green energy at a combined heat and power facility.
Most recently the charity have commenced a paper shredding service with B&M Secure Shredding to ensure all confidential information about staff and the families they support are firstly shredded by B&M, then 100% recycled. This acts as part of the charities’ compliance ahead of the new GDPR regulations, which tasks businesses with ensuring they manage personal information about people in a secure manner.
Paul Hoddy, from B&M Waste Services said “We are proud to support Children’s Heart Surgery Fund as our nominated charity. They are also committed to looking after the environment, and using our service means 100% of their waste is diverted from landfill. What’s more, the secure shredding service gives them peace of mind in knowing their paperwork won’t fall into the wrong hands. We will continue to support them in all they’re doing.”
Ben Andrews, Corporate Partnerships Manager said “B&M waste have been such fantastic supporters off ours over the last 2 years, and it’s great that we are were able to call on them to help us deal with all of our waste, including our private and confidential waste in full knowledge that we are keeping our data safe and diverting all our waste from landfill.”
