*Calculate Your ShreddingThe Arcadian is a leading leisure destination in Birmingham City Centre.
It is one of the most popular leisure venues owned and managed by commercial property and investment company LCP; one of the largest private proprietors of retail, industrial and office property in the country.
Waste management is key for The Arcadian as their unique arrangement of restaurants, bars and hotels require effective and appropriate services to dispose of glass, mixed recyclables and general waste collections.
The Arcadian wanted improvement to their waste services, and to ensure that they were recycling as much as possible as well as diverting waste from landfill. B&M were able to meet the Arcadian’s needs with their commitment to provide an adequate and convenient service.
B&M provided in-depth waste audits and site visits to ensure they put forward a solution that was tailored to the needs of The Arcadian.
Food, cardboard and glass waste were separated to ensure the highest level of non-contaminated recycling, with food waste going through the process of anaerobic digestion and subsequently used to generate energy. Glass and cardboard is separately collected, recycled and made into brand new products.
General waste is also collected by B&M Waste and processed as Refuse Derived Fuel, again generating energy and ensuring that 100% of waste is diverted from landfill.
Jo Kinsella, Centre manager of the Arcadian, said she was delighted with the improvement in its waste management since moving to B&M Waste Services. She added: ”If we’ve had problems they’ve been sorted straight away. There have been times when I’ve contacted the team and they have gone above and beyond to get additional collections made within a matter of hours.’’
Area Sales Manager of B&M Waste, Sean Sudsworth, expressed his pleasure in working with The Arcadian and LCP stating how they place great significance on their conscious efforts to achieve sustainability across the leisure centre. B&M working with The Arcadian means their indirect waste management is Carbon Neutral. B&M are delighted to help them achieve their recycling goals at the city centre location.
With all that is going on in the world at the moment, waste management continues to be an essential utility and we are doing all that we can to continue to operate as normal.
We can remotely organise audits, paperwork and health and safety documentation without the need for physical contact so that a safe and compliant service can commence imminently.
