*Calculate Your ShreddingThe European commission amendment to the Waste Directive came into force on 1st June 2015, and changes to UK legislation will follow shortly, implementing this change. The B&M Hazardous waste team are already ahead of UK Legislation, having adopted the latest best practice guidance, WM3 and the new coding system for hazardous wastes, which B&M customers will see on Hazardous waste documentation moving forwards.
What does this mean to me?
Customers will notice a change on the ‘Hazard Codes’ displayed in their consignment notes. These have been reviewed and the new codes, known as ‘Hazardous Property Codes’, applied to all existing waste streams.
Although the new EU legislation is not yet UK law, B&M are already adopting this in advance as best practice.
This means those using B&M Waste Services for their hazardous waste disposal can rest assured that their documentation will be legally compliant.
Margaret Whitehouse, Hazardous Waste Manager at B&M Waste said “The changes to the Hazardous Waste Classification Guidance aligns the waste industry with the new chemicals supply legislation, which should bring greater clarity on classification when chemicals migrate into the waste arena. A number of the changes in the WM3 guidance were already on our radar, and we have been assessing the impact these may have on our customers’ current waste streams, who can rest assured that everything is in hand.”
Once again B&M Waste Services are striving to offer the absolute premium waste management service and take the worry out of waste.
With all that is going on in the world at the moment, waste management continues to be an essential utility and we are doing all that we can to continue to operate as normal.
We can remotely organise audits, paperwork and health and safety documentation without the need for physical contact so that a safe and compliant service can commence imminently.
