Spinning Gate Shopping Centre, Mill Gate Shopping Centre and Gretna Gateway Outlet Village all received the award at a glittering presentation ceremony at the Houses of Parliament earlier this week.
The awards are given as a result of ongoing waste management improvements and initiatives being undertaken by the shopping centres with the support of B&M Waste. Each site has achieved an impressive 100% diversion of waste from landfill.
Dave Carter, of B&M Waste Services, said: “We’re so pleased to work with forward-thinking, environmentally-conscious businesses such as Spinning Gate Shopping Centre. The award is thoroughly deserved.”
Karen Cox, Centre Manager, from Spinning Gate Shopping Centre said: ““What a fabulous achievement, ensuring 100% diversion from landfill of over 103,000kg of waste produced from site during 2017 and to be awarded with an internationally recognised environmental award is tremendous news for Spinning Gate Shopping Centre. The centre team and centre retail partners are fully committed to recycling initiatives and are delighted to be presented with this award.””
B&M Waste and Spinning Gate Shopping Centre are continuing to look at new innovative ways of further improving the environmental performance of the site, through new techniques and technologies.
With all that is going on in the world at the moment, waste management continues to be an essential utility and we are doing all that we can to continue to operate as normal.
We can remotely organise audits, paperwork and health and safety documentation without the need for physical contact so that a safe and compliant service can commence imminently.
