*Calculate Your ShreddingFollowing a rigorous assessment process, B&M Waste Services has secured a three-year contract to implement a total waste resource management solution at Edge Hill University (EHU) after Edge Hill University choose B&M Waste Services.
EHU invited tenders for provision of its re-use, recycling and waste resource management services and a key component of the tender was an assessment of a potential service provider’s ability to complement and enhance the University’s sustainability vision.
Mick Ashall, Director at B&M Waste Services, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this prestigious contract and look forward to working with all members of the EHU community to develop innovative waste resource management solutions to help realise their environmental and sustainability vision.”
Tina Hanson, Housekeeping Services Manager at EHU, said: “With over 25,000 staff and students, we are a modern civic university aware of our social, economic and environmental responsibilities. We are committed to the sustainable management of waste to ensure legal compliance in a way that minimises environmental impact and promotes resource efficiency.
Tina continued “B&M Waste Services offer a Carbon Neutral waste management solution which aligns with our core values and objectives. EHU is committed to continually seeking ways to reduce its environmental impact. B&M’s monthly environmental reports detailing each building’s waste streams and associated recycling levels will assist us to identify improvement opportunities. We are also pleased that B&M will be servicing University buildings from its local depot in Bromborough. This will reduce service vehicle mileage against our current arrangements reducing EHU’s carbon footprint and making a contribution to improving the greater environment. We have had a great start with the B&M Waste team and look forward to continuing to reduce the environmental impact our waste has”
The contract commenced on 1 October 2016, and B&M Waste is now installing various recycling and waste containers, training on-site staff to further segregate waste and developing a mini-materials recovery facility on-site. Ongoing audits and suggestions for continuous improvements are part and parcel of B&M Waste Services offering and will ensure the consistent progress of the University’s recycling and reduction in carbon footprint.
With all that is going on in the world at the moment, waste management continues to be an essential utility and we are doing all that we can to continue to operate as normal.
