Barbacoa on Mersey View in Waterloo recycles one hundred percent (100%) of its waste every month.
Barbacoa owner Gordon Tartt said:
“We’re proud of the fact that we waste very little and what we do throw away does not go direct to landfill.
“We feel it’s important that as responsible citizens, we all try to do our bit for the environment.
“By working with B&M Waste Services, we’re also looking at other ways of reducing our indirect carbon emissions.”
Paul Seasman from B&M Waste Services said:
“Barbacoa has three recycling bins with food waste going in the food bins and paper, card, plastics and metal going in dry mixed recycling bins.
“For the first two months of this year Barbacoa’s carbon savings of 2000kg were the equivalent of travelling 400 miles by car.
“Put another way, with no onward journey to landfill, Barbacoa has saved the equivalent carbon of two trees already. A 100% recycling rate is fantastic and we hope for this standard to spread across our other restaurant customers.”
Glass from the restaurant is recycled by another company.
With all that is going on in the world at the moment, waste management continues to be an essential utility and we are doing all that we can to continue to operate as normal.
We can remotely organise audits, paperwork and health and safety documentation without the need for physical contact so that a safe and compliant service can commence imminently.
