*Calculate Your ShreddingTrafford Park based Carbon Neural waste management company, B&M Waste Services, have pledged their support towards a plastic free Greater Manchester.
The PlasticFreeGM campaign was launched with the aim to begin the first city-region wide plan to drive down avoidable single-use plastics. The campaign is providing information, advice and support to local people and businesses, to help guide into sustainable choices.
B&M Waste Services have been Carbon Neutral since 2011, and pledge to ensure 100% of their waste is diverted from landfill. In March, B&M Waste were awarded the ‘Plastic Free Champions’ Status by Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), as part of their Plastic Free Communities campaign. B&M Waste actively take steps to lessen their use of single-use plastic and encourage their customers to do the same, through a dedicated team, supporting them every step of the way.
PlasticFreeGM will work through the ‘worst offenders’ in terms of avoidable single use plastics (straws, stirrers, takeaway containers and cutlery, etc.) and offer advice and guidance on how to make more sustainable, low carbon choices.
8 Million Metric tons of plastic ends up in the ocean every year. It is predicted that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans. Making small changes, such as reducing single-use plastics, as well as making swaps in buying habits, could greatly help to reduce plastic waste throughout Greater Manchester.
Commenting on the pledge of support, Neil Curtis, Managing Director at B&M Waste Services, said: “We are delighted to be offering our pledge of support to the Plastic Free Greater Manchester campaign. As a company, we aim to lead the way in the reduction of plastic waste, always looking for new ways to support our customers in the reduction and re-use of waste output in their business- this pledge further supports our work towards this.”
