B&M Waste Services Celebrate 60 Years

Wirral-based B&M Waste Services is celebrating its 60th Anniversary by donating over £1500.00 to Claire House.

Family owned B&M Waste is one of the region’s largest independent waste and recycling specialists employing more than 170 people across its sites in Wirral, Trafford Park and Norwich.

The company invited all of its 170 employees and their families to enjoy a day’s celebration at Thornton Manor on Sunday 9th November 2014 where the money was raised for the children’s hospice charity.

B&M Claire HouseB&M Waste has recently announced it has reached a milestone of raising £30,000 for Claire House – an amount which has been raised through ongoing fundraising initiatives such as donations, sponsored sporting events and volunteering to help at the hospice.

The 60th Anniversary comes at a time when the business is experiencing unprecedented growth.  B&M has grown significantly over the past decade and now provides total waste management solutions to commercial and public sector clients such as NHS Trusts, local authorities and schools and universities.

In 2014, the company has won a large number of prestigious national awards for waste and recycling programmes implemented at Aintree University Hospital, Parrs Wood High School and Grand Central – the Retail and Leisure Park owned by Stockport Council.

In June 2014, B&M Waste opened its brand new £1million Refuse Derived Fuel facility at its site in Trafford Park, Manchester. The new RDF facility is helping hundreds of businesses recycle more of their waste – helping them to achieve zero waste to landfill.

Paul Curtis, Director of the newly formed B&M Secure Shredding arm of the business said that his family are incredibly proud of the success of B&M Waste.

Paul said; “B&M’s offering is so much more than recycling or waste collection. The company has grown to become a total waste management provider to thousands of businesses across the UK.  Whatever your waste requirements – from waste and recycling, to confidential shredding and drainage services, businesses can bring everything under one umbrella with B&M Waste Services.”

Bagnall and Morris was launched in 1954 to deliver pipe fitting services to the Gas Board. In 1984, Ken Curtis took the helm and started to expand its services.  The company began to deliver Highway Maintenance contracts and became a national business when it launched its drainage division. In 1999, the firm launched B&M Waste Services and subsequently launched its hazardous waste and total waste management divisions.

Paul said: “The last ten years have been significant for B&M Waste – with the firm expanding its total waste management services across the UK and with its subsequent launch of the B&M Shredding Division. We are delighted to be celebrating our 60th Anniversary and we look forward to continuing to grow our business across the UK.”

Ken Curtis – founder of B&M Waste Services said: “We are incredibly proud of our achievements. However, our success is due to the calibre of our employees and we were delighted to have celebrated our 60th anniversary with all the team at Thornton Manor.

“B&M Waste is a huge supporter of Claire House and it seemed only right that we recognised their importance to our local community during our 60th Year.”60 Years Bagnall and Morris
