*Calculate Your ShreddingB&M Waste Services are delighted to announce that they are now a Children’s University Learning Destination!
The Carbon Neutral waste management company have achieved the Children’s University quality mark- receiving outstanding feedback from validators and passing with flying colours!
The Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children. The scheme is committed to creating a level playing field of opportunity and opening up access to children of all backgrounds.
With 80 centres currently learning destinations, 1,000 schools and 100,000 children have been involved with the scheme so far. The programme supports children ranging from the ages of 5-14, offering them the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities in learning destinations of their choice to gain stamps- later used to graduate from the scheme.
Choosing their topics of interest from the learning destinations, children are able to tailor the learning journey to their interests and potential future career paths. This style of learning emulates the university experience looks to encourage further education routes in the future.
B&M Waste Service’s Innovation Centre, Milner House, was opened in 2018 with the aim of educating and inspiring the next generation on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. Students in the Children’s University scheme will be offered drop in dates throughout the school holidays, to visit Milner House and learn more about the waste management industry.
Commenting on the partnership, Maria Williams, Education leader at B&M Waste, said: “We are thrilled to be an accredited Children’s University Learning destination. The feedback that we received from validators was fantastic and we look forward to welcoming students to our innovation centre in the near future!”
