With B&M Waste depots across the country, the competing charities were varied but all focused on supporting children and young adults in some way. The winning time of 18.85 seconds saw Little Hearts Matter win a £1000 donation from the company.
Little Hearts Matter offers support to people affected by the diagnosis of single ventricle heart condition – or half a working heart. The Birmingham based team comprised of B&M drivers and office based employees, plus the company MD Neil Curtis.
Speaking of his team’s success, Ian Carr from Little Hearts Matter said;
“We are all absolutely delighted to win the B&M Waste Annual Truck Pull for 2019! It’s such a fantastic idea from B&M to help so many brilliant charities in such an innovative and fun way. It looked really hard work to get the truck going, but when they did, Team Little Hearts Matter really brought it home! We hugely appreciate the donation from B&M as it will help us to continue our support of hundreds of families on their half a heart journey; providing help to those children with single ventricle heart conditions however we can. A huge thanks to everyone who took part and to B&M for their continued and very welcome support.”
The Birmingham team was closely followed by the team supporting the Childhood Tumour Trust in Manchester with a time of 19.18 seconds and the Stick ‘n’ Step team in Bromborough, who also recorded an impressive sub 20 seconds. In line with their charitable ethos, the company made donations to each of the competing charities totalling over £4000.
Managing Director and member of the victorious Little Hearts Matter team Neil Curtis added;
“I was delighted to take part in our latest Charity Truck Pull and of course to be the Director on the winning team! The challenge is a great way for colleagues from across the business to come together to learn more about our charities and win money to support their very important causes. I’d like to thank all of the teams for taking part and of course to our charity partners for coming along to support us. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again in 2020! ”
